Stephen Garvey

Stephen is best known for his cult, musical parody, The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady, which played at The Mercury Theater in Chicago and Off-Broadway at the Theatre at St. Cement’s. His latest work, Five Golden Rings: A Greeting Card Channel Holiday Musical was recently acquired by Broadway Licensing, and his bio-musical (co-written) Love Goddess, The Rita Hayworth Musical, in preparing for an Off-Broadway run through Blue Panther Productions. Other stagings include Rise to the Bottom at Bad Rep Theatre Troupe, Cut Me Down at the DC/AC Theatre in Washington D.C., and Dead Fathers at Blue Heron Theatre in NYC, as part of Act Now’s One-Act Festival. He is currently workshopping two musicals, ‘80s Mixtape Odyssey and Plunge, with Skyward Productions in Washington, D.C.

Stephen’s short film Boy-Next-Door premiered at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival and has screened at over a dozen festivals, including the Austin Film Festival, Hollywood Shorts (Winner – Final Draft Award), Key West Indiefest (Winner – Best Narrative), WorldFest (Gold Remi Winner – Comedy), and Big Bear Lake Film Festival (Winner – Audience Award). His short film, Allergic Reaction, premiered at the Iron Mule Comedy Screening Series in 2017. His script 9/11 Kevin was honored with a staged reading at the Nantucket Film Festival in 2005 and his screenplay Chasing Disaster is currently in development with Vital Pictures.

Stephen is a graduate of NYU’s Dramatic Writing Program and is a proud member of Dramatists Guild of America.
